Mikee Huber
Painting
Mikee Huber is an abstract artist influenced by built environments, the natural world, music, and design. Drawing inspiration from scientific images, circuit boards, topographic views, and music genres like disco, funk, and 90s hip hop, her work reflects a blend of intuitive painting and a fascination with visual data.
Employing unconventional tools such as pipettes, tongue depressors, and silicon scrapers, Mikee reserves traditional brushes for her hard-edge paintings. She relishes using variations in color, scale, and contrast to create visual balance, transforming data into realms of possibility. She often works in series and organizes her thoughts and ideas through her paintings.
Mikee Huber is a member artist of the Dayton Society of Artists and the Springfield Museum of Art (Ohio). She has degrees in commercial art and fine arts and has been a graphics designer for almost thirty years. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, and she has received recognition for her innovative approach to abstract art.
In my Connections series, I explore the intricate bonds that tie individuals and communities together. Through vibrant color fields and intersecting lines, viewers are invited on a journey of discovery, witnessing the beauty of human connection unfold.
Each line in my paintings represents a unique individual, and as they converge, they form a cohesive whole—a metaphor for the strength found in unity. Inspired by the rich diversity of urban life, I celebrate the blending of cultures and traditions that enrich our communities.
My art serves as a reminder of the transformative power of connection. By embracing diversity and fostering meaningful relationships, we can build stronger, more inclusive communities where every individual is valued and respected.
